About the Show:
Insomnia Cafe is a darkly comedic meditation on what it means to escape reality. The show follows three people as they fight to create their own world. Their world is their own decaying, low-budget tribute to the classic 90s sitcom "Friends". The role of "MAN" requires a strong commitment to the material's intensity and complexity.
Audition Dates: Sunday, March 22nd 1-4pm and Monday, March 23rd 6-9pm

MAN
- Gender: Actor comfortable with male presentation
- Age Range: Late 20s-40s (flexible)
- Description: MAN (as called in the script) is the ringleader and someone with a mysterious and traumatic past. But through it all "Friends" has always been there for them. So much so that they've decided it may just be better to live inside that sitcom world. No matter how unrealistic that decision is, they're willing to do whatever it takes to keep that reality alive.
Audition Information: Scenes from the play will be provided ahead of your audition. Come prepared to read the sides.
Casting Notice:
We encourage actors of all genders, races, ethnicities, and sexualities to audition. Please note: This play contains mature themes and requires actors comfortable with intimacy, stage combat and vulnerability in performance.
Commitments if Cast:
- Read Through: Monday, March 30th, 7pm - 9pm
- Rehearsals: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM throughout April and May 2025.
- Tech and Dress Rehearsals: May 31st, June 1st, 2nd, 3rd
- Performance Dates: June 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 2026.

Word Perv
FIRST WEDNESDAY OF EVERY MONTH

When you hear "Word Perv" what's the first thing that comes to mind? Whatever you're imagining may very well be something that you'll see at Smelt House the first Wednesday of each month.
Word Perv is a storytelling and variety show that explores the dynamic themes of gender and sexuality. You'll see performers and non-performers alike share their personal experiences on how these universal themes have shaped their lives.
A few practical deets about Smelt House:
There is only street parking at the venue so please arrive early to find a spot or ride share!
Smelt House is a bit tucked away - we will have a sign on the sidewalk to direct you!
In case you get a little lost.. the closest street facing business is "Shag Noir Salon". To the left is a gate - walk through the gate and Smelt House is the second (red) door on your right!
The space is limited to 30 people so be sure to get your tickets ahead of time or show up early to get seats at the door!
